Lookbook: Velvet Florals

June 28, 2010

Today was my third day of interning with Daniela Corte. Her studio is busy and there’s always something going on, which makes it an exciting place to learn about the fashion industry! I’m really enjoying my internship there.

The weather in Boston was awful today – in the low nineties, very humid, and with a chance of thunderstorms. Accordingly, I wanted an outfit that would be weather-appropriate and work-appropriate. Here’s what I wore:

Dress, vintage BCBG. Belt, H&M. Earrings, a gift. Oxfords, H&M.

This dress is about twenty years old now, originally from BCBG around 1990. It’s a charcoal gray fabric with a velvet floral overlay. The overlay looks almost like lace, which keeps this piece right on trend. I kept the styling very simple (read: barely nothing, it’s too hot!) with just a belt, my favorite earrings, and a pair of heeled oxfords for a slight menswear touch.

Uncle Jamie, Aunt Karin, Dani, and baby Rosie are visiting from New York today. Dani instantly became fast friends with our cat, Thunder, and has been following him around all night. She even insisted that he smile and say “cheese” when she took his picture. She is too funny! We just had dinner and a lovely birthday celebration for the two July 3 babies, Uncle Jamie and my mom.

Happy birthday, “cheese”, and see you next time…

xoxo Hannah

That outfit looks fab! And I love the dress, funny how some articles of clothing are timeless, I can’t believe that dress is 20 years old!
