Beauty Snapshots

September 20, 2010

First and foremost, my focus as a fashion blogger is on what I wear day in and day out. Currently, I have forty-nine posts tagged as lookbooks, with only a mere seven tagged as beauty posts. I have to admit I’m remiss in giving beauty fair coverage. Whether you’re a self-labeled Sephora junkie or you’ve referred to makeup as “the devil” on several occasions (Devon, I’m looking at you!), your skincare, hair, and makeup plays a role in your appearance to the same extent that fashion does. That said, here are two beauty snapshots from today:

I went for a half ballerina, half Cupcakes and Cashmere hairstyle today. It literally took fifteen seconds. Just pile your hair up on top your head, secure with an elastic and a bobby pin, and you’re good to go! When every other girl is wearing their hair long and straight, it was fun to put it up for a day. Surprisingly, this deceptively simple style produced quite a response at school. (Including from two junior boys. Who knew they paid attention to hair?)

I’ve been wearing Confetti’s “Debutante” since Saturday night and I love it. I feel like I dipped my nails in liquid gold. This shade gives just enough glitz, like the beauty equivalent of wearing sequins for day. CVS’s nail polish section is a dangerous, dangerous addiction. (Eight new bottles in the past month? Oops!)

What have you been doing lately, beauty-wise? What are your latest beauty addictions? Would you be interested in reading a full skincare/beauty routine post?

xoxo Hannah

I have been checking your blog for a while, and I have always noticed how beautiful your hair is (along with your fashion)! I love how you style it along with your clothes. I agree skincare, etc. is very important, and I would be quite delighted to see a skincare/beauty routine post. I also have an issue with nail polish! I love all the essi, opi, and chanel colours which are quite expensive since I buy so many, I usually buy a similar colour from a drugstore brand. Thanks for all your lovely posts, they always brighten my day!

btw- beautiful background in your photos. is that wallpaper?

Thank you! Comments like yours make my day. :) Isn’t nail polish addictive? BTW, the background is our dining room wallpaper. I love it!

I need to just suck it up and throw my hair up every once in a while; i hate the way it looks up; but with a cute style like yours I think I could handle it! :)

I also am addicted to CVS nail polish selection– i recently bought a really matte gray that im obsessed with lately!
